For A boy who has run away from home listens, crouched in the depths of his hiding place, to the cries of the men who are looking for him. When the party passes by, what remains before him is an endless, arid plain that he must cross if he wants to get away from what made him run away for good. One night, his steps cross those of an old goatherd and, from that moment on, nothing will ever be the same for either of them.
Intemperie tells the story of a boy’s flight through a drought-stricken country governed by violence. A closed world, without names or dates, in which morality has escaped down the same drain that the water has gone down. In this scenario, the child, not yet completely spoiled, will have the opportunity to be initiated into the painful rudiments of judgement or, on the contrary, to exercise forever the violence he has suckled.
Through archetypes such as the boy, the goatherd and the bailiff, Jesús Carrasco constructs a harsh tale, sprinkled with moments of great lyricism. A novel carved word by word, where the presence of an inclement nature weaves the whole story until it blends in with the plot and in which the dignity of the human being emerges from the dry cracks of the earth with unusual force.
